Parkway Drive – Devil’s Calling – Assistant Grip

At the time of writing this, working as a grip on Parkway Drive’s “Devil’s calling” music video is the most high-end work experience I’ve had and it was great to see how a Professional Video Production runs and Frankie Nasso, the Director, was great to work under.

I got the Gig through workplacement thanks to SAE QANTM and Travis Hanley.

The Stepmother short film – Grip, lighting, DOP

Gore warning but i think thats a bit late, sorry. Anyway this is the Behind The Scenes of ‘The Stepmother’ which as of writing this has not been released.

The Stepmother was a Final project for one of my class mates. On this shoot I was the DOP, Key grip, Gaffer and Visual Gear manager for 3/5 of the days of production. On the other two days I was Asisstant DOP, Key Grip, Visual Gear Manager and Asisstant Gaffer. It was a week long shoot and I stayed on set for the whole week.

I was also in charge of of the equipment room

Due how large the project was, in hinesight, I should not of taken on that many roles and resposiablities however the reason I did is because there were no other DOPs avaliable and I was, to my knowlage, the only student with a keen interest in gripping.

That week was by far the hardest I’ve work as of the time i’m writing this post, a real test of my abilities and I’m thankful for the¬†opportunity.

Gimme di Fyah – Prod :Staynice – Anthony Martino . Interpeted by Skankstarz : Vocals Baptiste dupont and Rosie Donovan . Guitar : Tom Kelly . Bass : Oren Bresler . Drums : Jamie Patu . Keys : Jake Savona . Sound Engineer : Jan Muths. SEPT 2015.

This was my first production and I got the job that morning without prior knowledge of the shoot or band. The band just wanted the recoding session to be filmed. It was just me and I was in my second trimester of my diploma so my gear accesses was limited.

Once the recording was over they band offered to pay me and if I wanted to edit the footage and I accepted. The biggest problem I had was with sound sycing for a few reasons, because its a recording session every take is a little bit different and they were doing 3 songs so i didnt really know which one to pay more attetion to until after the shoot.

This project taught me a lot due to no prior planning. In the editing side of the project I struggled as syncingand shot-to-shot continuity was way out.

Cold Crush Coffee

A fake Televesion ad that I made while at for a project at uni.
I wrote, directed and edited it. It didn’t turn out the way I would have liked it and it had the potentale to be higher quality but unfortunetly I ran out of time.

Grip tutorials

Here is one of the projects I worked on while at SAE, this is just a preview but here is the play list to all three videos.

The reaon I decided to do a series of tutorials is because I’d say my best role so far is the Grip role, I’d like to work on my lighting and camera work but for this project it needed to showcase my skills.
